Description

From the Wreckage

About the piece:
A bit of Urban fantasy.

I just got done listening to the entire trilogy
by Terry Brooks The Genesis of Shannara that was a birthday gift this past September.
I also was given a DVD on Dec. 24th, 2012, which I finally got to watch,
and it got me in a post apocalypse type of mood which inspired this piece of art.

Questions of just what the world would be like after the fabled and oft predicted armageddon got my imagination to working.
I also have a niece on my mind who is in the army reserve,
whom could very well be called back to active duty.

Michelle has appeared in a feature spread in Tattoo magazine,
is totally solider buff and bad, but in the long run she is still human.
I worry about her and all my relatives and friends stuck inside this time of war.

Hence the winged solider woman for my post apocalypse world.
Her world and the disaster it faced has turned her into something a bit more than human,
who can walk the fields of the dead and dying while trying to rebuild a world gone wrong.
She is a fighter, a warrior, and is tougher than the humans of the before times.

Out the wreckage she walks confident, and ready to defend those that
need defending.

Style:
Digital Mélange

As per my usual digital style this piece is a photo manipulation, slash paint over, slash
painted piece.
For lack of a better term I will be calling it *Digital Mélange* from now on.

This piece contains elements from many different disciplines such as photography,
traditional watercolors, modern photo manipulation techniques,
digital painting by both hand and overlays.

Using a mouse, a digital brush with
my trusty Wacom tablet, and stylist I work on each piece for hours. I also add scanned elements painted with
traditional watercolors, both filtered and unfiltered. I have done my best to mash everything together
into a cohesive whole that becomes a piece of art.
I hope that it brings to you, the magic is has given to me in it’s creation!

Wishing you a magical day or night as the case may be!
